Download the apps

Download the apps

Before you begin to download the app/s, have your ELLA email address ready. You’ll find it in your ‘Welcome to the ELLA program’ email from Education Services Australia. Make sure you have access to that email address’s inbox so you can set your ELLA password. If you need to change your email address, please contact the ELLA Helpdesk. To set your ELLA password, go to the Educator Zone of the ELLA website, and select, 'Forgot username or password?'.

Check that you’re connected to WiFi and that you have a compatible tablet device. Follow the below instructions or watch the accompanying video for your iPad or Android tablet.

  1. Go to the App Store.
  2. Search for ‘ELLA App 1’, and look for App 1: The Polyglots in the Playroom.
  3. Install the app, using your Apple ID. If you have used other Apple services (such as iTunes and iCloud) or have purchased from the Apple Online Store, you can sign in to the App Store using that same Apple ID.
  4. If you don’t have an Apple ID, visit Apple Support to find out how to obtain one.
  5. A 'Download Required' message will appear during installation. When the message appears, select 'Download now'.
  6. Follow the same process to download subsequent ELLA apps from the App Store. 
  1. Make sure that your device is connected to WiFi.
  2. Go to the Google Play Store.
  3. Search for ‘ELLA Polyglots’ and select App 1: The Polyglots in the Playroom.
  4. Tap Install.
  5. Tap Open.
  6. Select ALLOW for the two pop-ups that will then appear in sequence: one about allowing the app to record audio, the other about allowing it to take pictures and record video.
  7. Log in to the app using your preschool’s ELLA email and password.
  8. When the Download Required message appears, select 'Download now'.
  9. Once download is complete, you will have access to your Group page.
  10. Download subsequent apps from the Google Play Store.

Log in to the apps

When you open the apps, you’ll be prompted to enter your ELLA login details.

Enable microphone and camera functions

iPad: After installing the apps you will be prompted to allow access to the microphone and camera. You can also enable this functionality by going into the iPad’s Settings area and selecting the ELLA apps from the left-hand menu.

Android: When installing the apps select ALLOW for the two pop-ups that will then appear in sequence: one about allowing the app to record audio, the other about allowing it to take pictures and record video.
